Clash of Titans: Russian Teams Dominate International “Battle of the Robots” in Moscow

In a spectacular display of engineering prowess and strategic combat, teams from St. Petersburg and the Moscow Region emerged as the undisputed champions at the international “Battle of the Robots” finals. The event, which transformed the arena of the capital’s “Moskino” cinema park into a high-tech colosseum, saw fierce competition from across the globe.

The championship featured two main disciplines: the heavyweight “Battle of the Robots up to 110 kg,” a thunderous contest of power and armor, and the lightning-fast “Mini-Robot Battle,” where machines weighing under 1.5 kg dueled with startling agility.

Heavyweight Glory: The “Omnivores” Feast on Victory

In the 110 kg category, the St. Petersburg team “Omnivores” lived up to their name, devouring the competition to claim the gold medal. After a series of intense eliminations, they faced the Brazilian contenders Uai!rrior in a final bout. In a tense clash of metal and strategy, the Russian team prevailed, forcing the Brazilians to settle for a hard-won silver.

The battle for third place was equally fierce, with India’s DS Robotics securing the bronze medal after a decisive victory over Iran’s Diaco.

The mini-robot category proved that size is no measure of excitement. In a final matchup of domestic rivals, the team 2FM from Fryazino in the Moscow Region outmaneuvered Moscow’s Plan B to take the top spot. The podium was rounded out by India’s Bullfrog, which bested Kazan’s Destructor-brazer for the bronze, highlighting India’s strong showing across both competition tiers.

Special Honors and a Chinese Free-for-All Champion

Beyond the main podiums, the spirit of resilience was celebrated with the special Phoenix Award. Four teams—Destructor-sinus (Kazan), CML-team: Kapi-band (St. Petersburg), DS Robotics (India), and Wolfram Kids (Novosibirsk)—were recognized for their outstanding comebacks and repairs throughout the tournament.

In the chaotic and crowd-pleasing mass free-for-all battle of the large robots, the Chinese team Fierce Roc proved its mettle, standing triumphant amid the arena-wide melee.

A Season of Competition Culminates

This season’s tournament, which included four qualifying stages across various Russian regions, culminated in this grand final. The competition was fueled by a substantial total prize fund of 6.6 million rubles (approx. $83,000). The “Omnivores” took home 3 million rubles for their heavyweight victory, while the “2FM” team earned 300,000 rubles for their mini-robot conquest.

The event stands as a powerful testament to Russia’s focused investment in STEM education and its ambition to cultivate homegrown talent capable of driving its technological future. As the sparks settle and the teams begin repairs for the next season, one message is clear: the battle for engineering supremacy is just beginning.
