MOSCOW, November 13 – RIA Novosti. Avito began implementing artificial intelligence when manual moderation of listings became unmanageable due to their growing volume, Ivan Guz, Managing Partner for Business Development at Avito, said during the plenary session “Implementing AI: Dividing Roles, Uniting Goals” at the Digital Solutions Forum.
“Initially, AI implementation at Avito started with clear limitations. As a large classifieds platform, we were growing… Everything began with people manually reviewing listings. It’s a complex task: there are many regulations, and it’s difficult to determine for each listing whether the item can be legally sold. There are just so many rules… At some point, it became clear that the number of listings was increasing, and the rules were too complex to manage manually. To continue developing, we needed to start automating the process,” Guz explained.
He added that Avito initially received thousands of listings per day, then millions, and eventually tens of millions. “Overall, 40 million listings a day cannot be checked manually—there’s just no way,” Guz said.
